Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) Training Course
This Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) course will assist students with an understanding of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) standard. An Organization Seeking Certification (OSC) will be assessed against the CMMC requirements to ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies, practices and plans to increase their security posture. It’s expected in the coming years that all organizations providing non-off the shelf products or services to the United States Department of Defense (DoD) must obtain CMMC certification.
This course prepares students for the Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) certification, which permits the CCA to participate as an assessment team member conducting CMMC Certification Assessments. SteelToad’s CMMC CCA course runs from Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, for a total of 40 hours to course completion. It is interactive and our instructors led SteelToad in aligning with CMMC goals to achieve certification as a CMMC C3PAO. You will learn from instructors who have successfully led and achieved certification alignment against the CMMC model.
Prerequisites to apply for CCA certification
The DoD and Cyber AB have established prerequisites to apply for CCA certification:
- Be a CCP who has at least 3 years of cybersecurity experience, at least 1 year of assessment or audit experience, and at least one foundational qualification, aligned to at least the Intermediate Proficiency Level of the DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework’s Security Control Assessor (612) Work Role, from DoD Manual 8140.03, Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program
- Complete a Tier 3 background investigation, or equivalent, with an eligible determination

Prior to Training
Prior to training, students should complete the CCP training course and, optionally, pass the CCP exam. Note that passing the CCP exam is a prerequisite for taking the CCA exam. Students complete the CCA registration process with Cyber AB prior to starting the course.

There is an exam associated with the CCA course. After completion of the CCA training course, students must register and pay for the exam through the Cyber AB. The fee for an individual CCA exam is $350.00. Refer to the Cyber AB website for full details.
